Them Crooked Vultures

Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl’s new side project is one to pay attention to. Them Crooked Vultures is a new supergroup trio made up of musical heroes earning constant radio play. Grohl is back on the drums in this trio with Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme singing and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones kicking it on the bass.

Them Crooked Vultures just released their self-titled debut album in November with “New Fang” (video below) as the first single. The album is a mix of Zeppelin-inspired riffs, Grohl beating on the drums like back in his Nirvana days, and eccentric “time signatures” that is the anchor and heart of Queens of the Stone Age. Check it out. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with this one.

From my favorite indie record store, Electric Fetus:

Ours, Atmosphere, Elbow, Supergrass, The Delays, Tokyo Police Club, one Joseph Arthur EP, The Rascals and The Last Shadow Puppets. I saw Elbow last night and they were really good, very chatty and in a good mood!

Next up, buying a new MINI Cooper S Convertible and a party bus to Canterbury Downs for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday; I've never bet the ponies before, wish me luck...
